“I wanted to make the most of such an opportunity”
Nadine Meyer dreamt of becoming a teacher until she ended up in Sales at Emmi Austria by chance. Then she got a unique opportunity at Emmi Switzerland. Her example shows how we offer our employees exciting development opportunities.
When Nadine Meyer failed the entrance examination for teacher training after completing her school-leaving qualification, she was devastated. Finally, she applied to Emmi Austria for a position in Internal Sales. And all of a sudden, things started to move very fast.
“The team was great from the start, and the work was fun,” says the now 26-year-old. Nadine has long since put her dream of becoming a teacher on hold. “I don’t regret this at all, because I like it at Emmi.”
“A unique opportunity”
Especially since the young woman was unexpectedly assigned an exciting project at Emmi Switzerland last year. Patrick Bühlmann, who is responsible for international sales at the Kirchberg production site, wanted to travel for six months. He was looking for someone to stand in for him.
“Patrick suggested me, which I thought was really cool. When it came time to make a decision, I did wonder whether I was up to it.” Despite having respect for the challenge, Nadine was determined to take advantage of this unique opportunity.
Two jobs at the same time
So, in the second half of 2022, Nadine managed two jobs at the same time, spending 40% of her working hours on her current role at Emmi Austria and 60% on her temporary position at Emmi Switzerland. After a brief introduction in Kirchberg, she was able to work from Austria.
“I have made a lot of contacts throughout Europe. Now I have a much better understanding of the internal processes in Switzerland and can apply a lot of it to Austria.” As the link between Marketing, Production and the subsidiaries, she says she has learnt a great deal.
There was also a marked improvement in her English skills – a major plus for Nadine’s work at Emmi, which as an international company markets products in around 60 countries and manufactures them at over 50 of its own production sites in 11 countries.
“I have made many contacts all over Europe.“
Only positive feedback
And Nadine’s personal conclusion? “It went well, even though at first I doubted whether I could manage it all.” Nadine overcame all the challenges and received only positive feedback. But what she is taking with her into the future is the certainty that new challenges are fun and she doesn’t have to be afraid of change.
