Our collaboration with milk suppliers in our supply chain helps to promote resource-efficient practices, increase productivity while preserving ecosystems and strengthening adaptability to climate change.

Emmi has set targets to optimise freshwater consumption in our production plants and the value chain in which we operate to actively address water scarcity. We also adhere to local guidelines to ensure the safety and quality of released treated wastewater.
Particularly in rural regions, Emmi directly and indirectly creates substantial added value and supports its milk suppliers in many ways to produce more sustainably. By procuring milk from our local communities, we contribute to secure and stable economic growth for suppliers in rural areas.
Emmi also aims to ensure that the procurement of other raw materials is carried out in accordance with ethical principles and that both human rights and animal welfare are respected in the supply chain.
Emmi operates in 14 countries, driving local infrastructure and innovation development by sharing technologies and best practices, including those for more sustainable milk production.
Through targeted site promotion and the impact generated by the exchange of knowledge and technologies, we benefit from each other and create sustainable investments in the sites. These investments are also very regionally focused, further strengthening the local economy and supporting communities.
We reduce general waste and food waste in our production processes and have set ourselves the target of making all our packaging recyclable. By actively informing consumers about our sustainability activities and encouraging them to recycle and reduce food waste, we promote more sustainable consumer behaviour.
Emmi also strives to use water in an environmentally friendly manner by adhering to local guidelines and thus ensuring the safety and quality of released treated wastewater.
Emmi has set itself targets in line with the Science Based Targets initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions along our entire value chain and realise the net-zero target by 2050.
We are committed to ensuring that no deforestation takes place along our value chain and that sustainable agriculture is promoted.
