"My job allows me to grow"
Working and living in Holland, Lucerne and from time to time in Barcelona: as Project Manager for Sustainability, Carla Tur Mel·lo advises and inspires our subsidiaries around the world. An all-round exciting job that offers many development opportunities.
The daughter of a classical dancer and a dance school teacher, Carla grew up in Barcelona. She also loves dancing. "But from my mother, I saw the strain that years of dancing places on the body," says the 32-year-old Emmi employee. She, on the other hand, consciously takes care of herself – and her surroundings. She has always been particularly fascinated by the conscious and responsible use of resources, nature and the earth.
Like winning the lottery
Instead of heading for the dance stage, Carla decided to study chemistry. During her first few years of working life, she realised that companies could also have a positive impact on the environment and society.
When Carla saw the job advertisement as Project Manager for Sustainability at the Emmi subsidiary Bettinehoeve in Holland, she did not hesitate for long and applied for the advertised position. Eventually, Carla got the job. "I felt like I had won the lottery when I got the job." The position gave her the opportunity to combine her personal values with her work.
Departure for Holland
And so, Carla moved to Holland with two large suitcases and started working for the Emmi subsidiary as Project Manager for Sustainability. Admittedly, she encountered some administrative hurdles due to her move.
But the uncertainties quickly disappeared, thanks in part to the support of Emmi’s human resources department. To this day, Carla is glad to have taken up her job in Holland near Bettinehoeve and to have left her comfort zone: "My job gives me a lot and allows me to grow."
Inspiring sustainable action
As part of the Emmi Sustainability Team, Carla is committed to ensuring that Emmi achieves its sustainability goals. She supports Emmi subsidiaries around the world in measures and projects that reduce greenhouse gases long term.
Carla also advises the Europe division on sustainability issues. "I like to raise awareness and inspire people so that sustainability is no longer viewed in isolation but becomes part of our mindset," says Carla.

Exciting further development, internationally too
