Future plans for the family business: father and daughter band together
The next generation in the starting blocks: Esther Sandmeier is looking forward to taking over her parents’ farm, Brunnacherhof in Seengen (Aargau), in the near future. Like her father, the 27-year-old is particularly concerned with sustainability in arable and livestock farming.
Since the Sandmeier family took part in the project "KlimaStaR Milch" they have been paying even more attention to the targeted, sustainable feeding and further breeding of their dairy herd.
Among other things, father Heinz and daughter Esther are focusing on breeding by trying to breed mainly heifer calves with sexed semen.

Securing livestock and soils as livelihoods
Esther Sandmeier is particularly aware of the issue of sustainability in a very broad sense, because she herself, together with her partner, will take over her family’s farm in the near future.
"Sustainability in agriculture is very important to us, as we earn our income from the animals and the soil on our farm and we want to make it possible for future generations to do so too," she explains.
A well-established team
Father Heinz and daughter Esther not only have the same attitude, they are also a great team. This can be seen in their well-worn procedures, in the way they share their work and also in this interview, in which they leave a lot of space for each other – the harmony is clearly palpable.
Harmony is also important to the family when working with Emmi: "We are proud to be Emmi’s Farmer Ambassadors because we like to show consumers that every delicious dairy product begins with the work of a farming family."

Farmers in the spotlight: In the series "Our Farmer Ambassadors", we focus on our milk producers and hear from the Sandmeier family, for example, to what extent rearing calves can also be sustainable.

Emmi Farmer Ambassadors
Our longstanding partnership with our regional dairy farmers has always been particularly important to us: it is characterised by trust, closeness to our origins and quality awareness. Through this close cooperation, we can help to create value in rural regions and remain true to the core of our products, with high-quality and increasingly sustainably produced milk. Together, we create added value and make sustainable dairy farming the norm. Emmi launched the Emmi Farmer Ambassador project in 2018 to further strengthen the partnership and to put the families behind our delicious dairy products front and centre.
