Milk and wine: the Käser family’s recipe for success

Cows, feed, wine... it’s not just milk that’s produced at the Bächlihof farm in Oberflachs. The Käser family grows most of the food for their animals themselves. The family is also particularly proud of their two and a half hectares of vineyards. “The vineyards here go back to Roman times,” explains Stefan Käser.

Our farmers are making a difference: in the video series “Our farmer ambassadors”, we present the people who supply the valuable raw ingredients to our production facilities, from which we make high-quality, delicious dairy products both now and in future: sustainably produced milk.

Today: the Käser family from Oberflachs, Aargau

The Käser family’s doors are always open. Whether it’s for a glimpse of the stalls, where the animals receive the highest level of care, or for a tasting at the events bar, they are always happy to welcome guests to the farm. “As a family business, we are committed to heritage, innovation and quality on a very personal level. This commitment can be seen in our exclusive wines,” says Emmi farmer ambassador Stefan Käser proudly. The Käser family also cultivates around 55 hectares of pastures, grains, corn, gardens and forests. Most of the food for their animals is grown by the family themselves.

“We love looking after our animals every day and pay a lot of attention to them, be it in the free-range barn or out on the pasture.“

Turning milk into wine – or however the story goes

To some, it’s astonishing that a dairy farmer also produces wine. But for Stefan Käser, one thing is clear: “Vineyards here in the Schenkenbergertal, including in Oberflachs, are rich in tradition. We know that the history goes as far back as the Romans who cultivated vines here.” The Käser family has always considered wine a part of their lives.

They put just as much love and passion into the production of their wines as they do into the care of their animals – and of course, regular stroking is part of this care!

Emmi farmer ambassadors

The long-standing partnership with our regional dairy farmers has always been of particular importance to us: it is characterized by trust, proximity to the source and an awareness of quality. Through this close collaboration, we contribute to value creation in rural regions and stay close to the core of our products, high-quality and increasingly sustainably produced milk. Together, we create added value and make sustainable dairy farming the norm. To further strengthen the partnership and focus on the families behind all these excellent dairy products, Emmi launched the Emmi farmer ambassadors project in 2018. Photos and videos that offer a vibrant insight into the day-to-day life of around 300 Emmi farmer ambassadors can be found at emmi.com/farmer-ambassadors.
