Emmi Farmer Ambassadors the Ruprecht family – innovative and nature-loving

The Ruprecht family from Laupen in the canton of Bern has been farming Steinhof-Ruprecht for generations. With innovative methods and a strong focus on animal welfare and sustainability, they are proud Emmi Farmer Ambassadors. An insight into their life and work.

The Ruprecht family lives and works on their farm in Laupen, a town with special soil conditions. Steinhof-Ruprecht, named after a former floodplain on the Sense and Saane rivers with light and stony soils, has been managed by the family for over 30 years. Today, Jonas and his brother run the business alone and have recently become the sole owners.

They primarily produce food for the population, a challenge that is becoming ever greater due to the decline of farms and the increasing demand for food.

They value the welfare of their animals and use modern technologies such as milking robots and GPS-controlled tractors to make their work more efficient.

Farmers in the spotlight: in the series ‘Our Farmer Ambassadors’, we focus on our milk producers and hear from Jonas Ruprecht, for example, on how he teaches non-farmers about farming and how he uses modern technology to make his work more efficient.

“The great thing about our job is that we have a very short commute to work, we get to work with nature and the family can be there. Technical advances, such as robot milking and GPS on tractors, have also found their way onto our farm and contribute to animal welfare.“

Our longstanding partnership with our regional dairy farmers has always been particularly important to us: it is characterised by trust, closeness to our origins and quality awareness. Through this close cooperation, we can help to create value in rural regions and remain true to the core of our products, with high-quality and increasingly sustainably produced milk. Together, we create added value and make sustainable dairy farming the norm. Emmi launched the Emmi Farmer Ambassador project in 2018 to further strengthen the partnership and to put the families behind our delicious dairy products front and centre.
